Working With Me
My approach combines life coaching with the wisdom of horses and nature to help you learn to listen to and connect with your authentic self in the present moment. After all, this moment is the only moment in which we can actually make choices. You’ve heard it before: Yesterday is history, tomorrow’s a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why they call it “the present.” The choice you make in the present moment is the key to getting you where you want to be.
As we work together, we’ll create an individual package of life coaching, nature journaling, and sessions with a horse “coach” that will help you access different ways of experiencing your world, “from the inside out.”
Life coaching is an on-going, directed conversation. I listen to everything, not just what you choose to tell me. I listen for stories you’ve long forgotten, stories about who you were before you started responding to other people and what you’re “supposed” to do. I help you learn to listen to your heart and your body. By connecting with these other sources of wisdom, you’ll learn to make authentic choices that lead to your version of a rich, full life.
Many of my clients don't live nearby. Coaching "long-distance" by phone or Skype works just as well as coaching in person.
Journaling in nature isn’t about writing an essay for your 7th grade English teacher. It’s a process of sitting quietly, noticing, and writing down your observations, just for you—not for anyone else’s eyes. Noting the sounds and smells, the colors and shapes, developing curiosity about what’s happening “out there” right in this moment—all this helps you develop awareness of your inner landscape. New insights often spill out onto the page when you slow down and create an opportunity to listen.
Nature journaling sessions can be done together in person near Olympia, WA, or on your own with guidance from me.
Equine-assisted coaching helps you connect with other ways of experiencing your world by partnering with a horse. The work is done on the ground—no riding is involved. Because horses are prey animals, they are sensitive to your body language and energy right in this moment—yet they have no judgment. Things just are what they are to a horse. Through guided experiences, a horse “coach” can show you what you are unable or unwilling to see for yourself. This information can be invaluable as you discover the obstacles that are keeping you from getting to where you want to be.
Sessions with a horse "coach" take place in Olympia, WA. If you have your own horses, call me to explore setting up a session at your barn.
